I’m not sure that many businesses are quite ready for next year, especially when it comes to their marketing and online visibility.
I know this because I’m still seeing so many of them struggling right now because they’ve got their head in the sand about what’s happening in the digital landscape .
They’re still marketing like it’s 2023 and creating content that, quite frankly, is just a waste of their time and money.
I want to share some of the things you should be preparing for in 2025 so that your business can stay visible throughout the changing digital landscape that we’re seeing right now.
Less organic clicks
Your website will get less organic clicks from Google. Fact. I know this because Google’s AI-generated overview means that Google is trying to keep people on the platform. It doesn’t want people to click through to your website.
Hey, hang on…. but that’s the whole point of me creating content, right?
It is, but you have to do it differently. Read this blog to find out how to get your content featured in Google’s AI overviews so you get more chance of getting the click.
I believe that 2025 will be more about ranking for topics, rather than keywords. The search engines will be looking for those who show experience in a niche topic and ranking those who really show authority.
High-effort content
One thing I know about 2025 is that high effort content will reign supreme and get you the leads you want.
Anyone can create content using AI with the click of button, so content is becoming a commodity.
What’s going to make your content stand out is bringing a fresh perspective and a unique angle. But most importantly, it needs to meet Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines; that is content that’s accurate, user-centred, and well-cited has a higher chance of ranking.
When a piece of content takes you a good few hours to create, finesse, repurpose into a different channels, you know you’ve done it right – and it will pay dividends in the longer term.
Voice Search Optimisation
50% of all searches are predicted to be voice-based by 2025. This means that optimising your content for natural language queries is crucial. Short punchy sentences, question-based content will earn you places in Google’s AI overviews and will appeal to voice search as well.
Where you spend your time and money matters
Let’s face it, we all used to have that one favourite marketing channel that delivered leads for us time and time again, but this will no longer be the case in 2025. Buyer behaviour has changed. If you think about it, rarely do you go to a website and buy straight away. There’s a longer consideration stage. This is why you need to build seamless customer journeys to nurture your audience through to a sale, not just rely on a quick-win/one channel approach.
The most important thing to understand is where your customers are and create a connected sale journey so that your business is always visible when they are ready to buy.
